Oppo Find X Specs Review
Design & Display
The Find X is a phone with striking looks. This smartphone looks amazing especially when the display is on. You hardly notice the bezel at the base when it’s on. The top bezel is only 1.91mm. The side bezels are 1.65mm and the lower chin is only 3.4mm. This phone gives you 93.8% screen to body ratio. The rear and front glass and its metal frame give the Find X a premium look and feel. One key disadvantage of phones with glass backs is the fact that they are fingerprint magnets. If you get yourself this phone, be prepared to wipe the back from time to time to keep it looking good.
Find X comes with a 6.42 inch screen that is bright and display images with accurate colors. The OLED display has full HD resolution of 1080 x 2380 pixels. Although it is an awesome display, it does not provide the kind of clarity that you get in flagships from other competing brands such as the Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone X etc. The sides of the display are curved, just like high end Samsung galaxy phones. Curved displays not only help to enhance the appearance of phones, they help to make one handed use easier.
This Oppo flagship does not come with a fingerprint scanner. You only have the facial recognition feature, referred to as O-Face. The face unlock feature works well whenever you want to unlock the phone but it is not as fast as a fingerprint sensor. O-Face works pretty well in the dark too because of a built in IR (infra-red) sensor. According to Oppo, the O-Face’s failure rate is 1 in 1,000,000 while that of the fingerprint sensor is 1 in 50,000.
At the bottom of the phone, there is a USB type C port and a speaker. This phone does not comes with the 3.5mm headphone jack. The Find X is available in only two colors: Glacier Blue and Bordeaux Red.
Hardware, Software & Performance
Oppo Find X is a powerful phone. It is equipped with flagship grade Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8GB of RAM. It runs on Android v8.1 Oreo out of the package with Oppo’s Color OS v5.1 user interface. This phone runs smoothly thanks to its powerful CPU and huge RAM.
There are many storage options for the Find X. The largest storage option available is 256GB. This is plenty of space for you apps, images, videos and everything else that you would like to have in your phone.
The cameras of this phone can’t be seen when you take a look at it. This is because they are hidden in a sliding block at the top of the device. This block slides up whenever one launches the camera app or when you want to use O-Face to unlock the phone. It takes a fraction of a second for the cameras to rise out. You will not wait for a long time when you want to use the cameras. In fact, the camera is launched just as fast as the cameras on devices without a sliding camera block.
On the rear side of the motorized block, there is 16MP and 20MP dual cameras with Optical Image Stabilization OIS. These two cameras work hand in hand to provide images with extra depth information. They allow you to create images with Bokeh effect (blurred background).
This camera also comes with AI Scene recognition. This feature enables it to identify up to 21 different scenarios and adjust camera settings automatically to give you better photographs. The front camera is 25MP. It boasts of 3D modelling, a feature that helps with beautification and O-Face unlock.
This phone comes with a sizeable 3750mAh battery. The Find X supports VOOC fast-charging technology. Unfortunately, this smartphone does not support wireless charging like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
